INSTRUMENT RATING INSTRUCTOR

An applicant for an IRI(H) rating shall have:

a) completed 500 hours flight time under IFR, of which at least 250 hours shall be in helicopters, of which up to 50 hours may be instrument ground time in a flight simulator or FNPT II;

and

b) completed, as a student, an approved course comprising at least 5 hours of flight instruction in a helicopter, flight simulator or FNPT II (see Appendix 1 to JAR FCL 2.395 and AMC FVL 2.395) and passed the appropriate skills test set out in Appendix 1 to JAR FCL 2.330 and 2.345.

The course duration is 4 days.
