An applicant for an IRI(H) rating shall have:
a) Completed 500 hours flight time under IFR of which least 250 hours shall be in helicopters of which up to 50 hours may be instrument ground time in a flight simulator or FNPT II; and
b) Completed as a student an approved course comprising at least 5 hours of flight instruction in a helicopter, flight simulator or FNPT II (see appendix 1 to JAR FCL 2.395 and AMC FVL 2.395) and has passed the appropriate skills test set out in Appendix 1 to JAR FCL 2.330 and 2.345.
