Quality & Safety Team

Helicopters are expensive assets; the people we fly in them are priceless. At Starspeed, Quality and Safety Management goes hand-in-hand with ensuring the highest levels of safety and service. To uphold these values, we select highly qualified, professional and experienced staff for all aspects of our operation. As a result of this we have a comprehensive Safety Management System (SMS) in place well ahead of European regulation requirements.

Quality Management

Starspeed’s Quality Management System ensures regulatory compliance and adoption of industry ‘best practice’. We continually review and audit our processes and practices to maintain the highest standards. Starspeed’s Airworthiness Manager, Pat Newell, and Quality Manager, Chris Watkins, are highly qualified engineers, each with over thirty years experience. The company’s management team encourages staff members to contribute to the quality of service and products, and is committed to providing the resources to support this policy. This investment in quality is seen as a long term cost saving measure, which adds extra value and assurance to aircraft owners and charter customers.

Safety Management System (SMS)

Starspeed deals with a variety of safety hazards associated with employing and serving a diverse community. A Safety Management System provides a strategic, proactive and systematic approach to managing safety and is an integral part of Starspeed’s business process. There are many ways to define safety, however, put simply it is the ‘absence of undesired outcomes’, and is our prime consideration at all times. The company has established the following values:

  • safety is prioritised at all times
  • processes are continually reviewed to minimize exposure to risk
  • the establishment and adoption of industry best practices
  • company management are accountable for safety performance
  • working safely is a condition of employment
  • safety makes economic sense

This systematic approach to managing safety ensures long term cost efficiencies, improved company morale and the provision of evidence of effective management of risks to ensure safe operations.
