David Voy was British Army trained in 1971 and began commercial flying in 1974. The 11,000 hours flying experience gained in that time include mountain flying, underslung load operations, crop spaying, pipeline and power line patrols including Infra Red patrols, oil pollution operations in UK and Ireland, live TV transition and film work (including the first civil use of live TV for police operations), police visual operations over London, offshore oil rig support and a large amount of VVIP and corporate flying with passengers including 2 ex USA Presidents and several other Heads of State and their families.
During that time he held a UK and US ATP licence and was a type rating and instrument examiner.
Council member of the British Helicopter Association (BHA)
Awarded the BHA Eric Brown Award for service to the industry in 1999.
Co headed the 10 helicopter contract to provide broadcast helicopters for the outdoor events at the Athens Olympic Games flying 900 hours and 600 sorties. (The first time one single company has provided the service)
David co-founded Starspeed in 1978 and was at the helm until 2007 since when he remains Chairman of the company.
